"We Take 80 Trips a Year—These Are the Under-$50 Travel Accessories We Recommend"

"I'll always try and take my makeup off when on long or overnight flights. I swear by Koh Gen Do cleansing face wipes. They're gentle, easy to use, and leave the skin super soft and hydrated."

"I'm 30 and Found These 25 Beauty Products Make Me Look Younger"

I'm thirty years old. Man, that still feels strange to write. Okay, technically, I'm only three days in, but it's official. And even though I'd been mentally preparing for the day to come for some time, on the morning of, I woke up feeling, well, the exact same way I've felt every other year: far from being a "real" adult. (I'm not even sure what I was expecting, to be honest—the whole thing was kind of anti-climatic.) Don't get me wrong—there's nothing wrong with aging, and by no means is 30 "old." So I did what anyone would do first thing on a milestone birthday: examine my face in a magnified mirror. I definitely have more sunspots, wrinkles, and lines than I did 10 years ago, but considering all the shit I put my body through prior to this (baking in the sun, no SPF, hot tools every day, etc.), I feel like I look (and feel) pretty damn good. I've had three decades to realize there isn't one magic product out there to keep me (or anyone) looking young forever. Luckily, I've conducted a lot of trial and error over the years and have a deep obsession with skincare and makeup. So here we are. Keep scrolling for the 25 best beauty products to help keep you looking young. I'm sure you've heard it before, but regular exfoliation equals more radiant skin. I haven't found an exfoliator I like as much as this, and it's been six years since I've started using it. What I love most is that it's a peeling gel and not harsh at all. I apply a thin layer to my face and let it sit for a few minutes before massaging it in a circular motion. As the gel is rubbed, it rolls up off the skin, picking up the outermost layer of dead skin cells. Gross? Yes. But totally necessary to do a couple of times a week to keep my complexion youthful-looking.

"I've Been Testing Beauty Products for 3 Years—These 39 Are My Absolute Favorite"

Things to put on your skin: Once you try these cleansing cloths from Koh Gen Do, you will never use anything else to clean your face in a pinch, refresh after a workout, or swipe away stubborn makeup. They're made from certified organic cotton in Japan and are drenched in mineral-rich spa cleansing water and other soothing essential herbs.

"The Best Beauty Looks of 2020 Oscars: From Florence Pugh's Intricate Updo to Cynthia Erivo's Stunning Nails"

Janelle Monae's Glitter Eyeliner and Red Lip All eyes were on the musician's crystal-encrusted Ralph Lauren hooded gown, which was perfectly complemented by the glam created by makeup artist Jessica Smalls. Smalls prepped Monae's skin by using the Dermaflash Luxe to exfoliate and smoothen the face before applying the Koh Gen Do Maifanshi Moisture Foundation for a hydrated, glowy base. Smalls brushed up Monae's full brows and defined the eyes with black liner along the inner corner, upper and lower lash line and elongated to the outer corner for a subtle flick, with silver glitter applied along the upper lash line and the middle of the lower lash line, complete with Lashify false lashes. The makeup was topped off with a punchy red matte lip.

"Tina Craig: From Bag Snob to Beauty Entrepreneur"

If there are three things Tina Craig really knows it’s Birkins, business, and beauty. The entrepreneur was one of the first in the fashion blogging game when she launched Bag Snob with fellow handbag obsessive Kelly Cook in 2005. The site quickly grew to become a go-to resource for all things handbags, jewelry, accessories, and beauty. It was while she was immersed in this new influencer world, receiving the latest and greatest products from skincare and beauty brands for editorial consideration, that Craig realized there was a white space and set out to fill that void with her own brand, U Beauty. We caught up with Craig to hear more about her beauty routine, what makes her Resurfacing Compound better than all the rest, and what handbag she’d bring with her to a desert island... You’ve done a lot in the beauty and fashion industry since you started your blog, Bag Snob, in 2005. What made you want to start your latest venture, U Beauty? Since embarking on this adventure now fifteen years ago, I’ve been privy to so much evolution, from within the blogging world to the onset of Instagram to the skincare industry. As an influencer myself, I’ve also been privy to the latest and greatest in skincare. One of the perks of the job is receiving the best that skincare brands have to offer — and one of the downsides is suffering from major cosmetic confusion and fear of missing out on what’s new and groundbreaking, not to mention concern about the waste that comes with copious amounts of products and packaging. I grew tired of using 13-15 products daily, twice a day. Eventually, it became clear a white space was glaring at me. What was missing: One great science-based, results-oriented product that successfully replaces at least half of the products I used. Why did you decide to launch with just one product, the Resurfacing Compound? What sets it apart from other products? I was really interested in finding a great resurfacing product, but was having a hard time. Laser resurfacing wasn’t an appealing option for me, since the results are unpredictable for Asian skin and it can cause permanent changes in pigmentation. Usually, I require between six and eight products at different times throughout the day (like glycolic acid at night alternated retinol plus with AHA, along with vitamin C, enzymes and hyaluronic acid in multiple forms). It was confusing, exhausting and honestly, it didn’t even work well. And if I forgot to thoroughly rinse my face in the morning and the vitamin C came into contact with last night’s retinol, my face would explode in a fit of irritation. What does your beauty routine look like today? AM I start with a swipe of Koh Gen Do Cleansing Spa Water on T-zone. I don’t wash my face when I wake up because my face is very clean when I go to bed. I use the Spa Water because it’s gentle and rinse-free, and I try to avoid tap water on my face whenever possible. Then I apply the U Beauty Resurfacing Compound to my T-zone. (If I’m traveling, my skin looks tired, or I’m in hot, humid weather, it goes all over my face.) Next, Augustinus Bader Rich Cream on my cheeks and neck only, followed by Clé de Peau Beauté Enhancing Eye Contour Cream Supreme. The sunscreen I use depends on the activity. For a regular day, Dr. Barbara Sturm Sun Drops with SPF 50 blend well with my daily treatment. If I’m at the beach, it’s Clé de Peau UV Protective Cream SPF 50+, which is a bit heavier, and if I’m skiing, I opt for Supergoop! Zincscreen 100% Mineral Lotion because it’s the only zinc sunscreen that glides on invisibly. Finally, when I reach for a tool, I go for the SiO Cryodrop. It's an innovative self-cooling roller made of medical-grade steel that de-puffs and feels cold without refrigeration! PM I do my serious cleansing at night, starting with Tula Oil Makeup-Removing Cleansing Oil, a makeup remover and cleanser in one, followed by iS Clinical Gel cleanser, which has subtle exfoliators to remove dead cells. While my skin is damp, I give it a quick roll with the ReFa CAXA roller to improve circulation and promote lymphatic drainage. As for other tools, I alternate these two every other day or so: the Dermaflash Ultrasonic blade removes blackheads and gently clears pores for a supreme clean and the TriPollar RF Stop X tool is an insane at-home RF gadget that tightens skin deep in the dermis layer. Finally, I treat my skin the way I do in the morning: I’ve cut down from 13 products to just three! The U Beauty Resurfacing Compound is my magic elixir, Augustinus Bader Rich Cream moisturizers and Clé de Peau Beauté Enhancing Eye Contour Cream Supreme takes care of the delicate eye area.

"Here Are All the Beauty Details Behind Janelle Monae's Sparkly 2020 Oscars Look"

Fashion aficionados and fans alike look to the Oscars red carpet every year to see which of Hollywood's stars will take bold style risks. As usual, Janelle Monáe strutted onto the red carpet at the Dolby Theater on Sunday evening (Feb. 9) looking larger than life. Her long-sleeved silver gown, designed by Ralph Lauren, had a full-length skirt, back cutout, and a hood. Covered in 168,000 Swarovski crystals, the dress reportedly took more than 600 hours to make, according to People. Though her dress was one of the brightest on the carpet, her hair and makeup shined as well. Monáe's makeup was very skin-focused, starting with the prep. Her makeup artist, Jessica Smalls, started by cleansing the star's skin with Koh Gen Doh's (KGD) Oriental Plants Facial Wash and used the Dermaflash Luxe to exfoliate and remove any peach fuzz from Monáe's face. Smalls then used KGD's Cleansing Spa Water to wipe the face, then moisturized with the brand's Moisture Spa Gel. For the singer's eyebrows, Smalls used the Hourglass Arch Brow Micro-Sculpting Pencil to fill them in, then locked them in place with Soap Brows. She used Natasha Denona Biba All Neutral Eyeshadow Palette to define the crease and even out the eyelid's skin tone, then used Urban Decay's Heavy Metal Glitter Liner over a black liquid liner "for a shiny pop," and lined Monáe's waterline with the Sephora Collection 12-Hour Colorful Contour Eyeliner in Black Lace. To finish off the eyes, Smalls applied the Lashify Bold Gossamer Lashes in a criss-cross arrangement to create a wispy effect. On Monáe's skin, Smalls mixed two shades of the KGD Maifanshi Moisture Foundation for an airbrushed effect. The performer's skin was lightly contoured and highlighted with concealer and bronzer to create dimension. Smalls then used Charlotte Tilbury's Cheek to Chic Blush in "Love Is the Drug" on the apples of Monáe's cheeks and swept up to her cheekbones, then was finished with Charlotte Tilbury's Glowgasm Face Palette. Of course, Smalls completed the star's look with a signature red lipstick, so the makeup artist used the NARS Velvet Matte Lipstick Pencil in Dragon Girl. Maui Moisture Celebrity Hairstylist Ambassador Nikki Nelms did Monáe's hair in collaboration with GHD hair tools. "Janelle and I always work collaboratively on the hairstyle once we see the dress," explains Nelms in a press release. "With the red carpet, we chose to complement the hood and diamond choker by giving a subtle, lifted side sweep that framed her face and peaked through the hood for added glam." Nelms first cleansed and conditioned with the Maui Moisture Shine + Awapuhi shampoo and conditioner to prep. Next, she applied the Heal & Hydrate + Shea Butter Combing Cream to protect and soften the strands, and used the Thicken & Restore + Bamboo Fiber Blow Out Mist before blowing out Monáe's hair with the GHD Helios Hairdryer and Paddle Brush. Then she sectioned off the singer's hair and used the GHD Curve Soft Curl Iron to create large curls at the front, and smoothed the front section with the GHD Platinum+ Deep Scarlet Styler to create a combover, and secured it with pins. Finally, she used the Maui Moisture Nourish & Moisture + Coconut Milk Weightless Oil Mist to tame flyaways and add shine. Monáe's hair was styled to be as versatile as possible because she planned on changing looks throughout the evening. Editor's Note: Jessica Smalls created Monáe's makeup look in collaboration with Koh Gen Do and Dermaflash. Nikki Nelms created Monáe's hair look in collaboration with Maui Moisture and GHD.

"The Best Beauty Looks From the 2020 Oscars Red Carpet"

Janelle Monáe Monáe's go-to makeup artist Jessica Smalls used Dermaflash's Luxe Anti-Aging Dermaplaning Exfoliation Device along with Koh Gen Do products to prep the star's skin. She finished the look by creating a glittery cat eye, complete with fluttery lashes from Lashify, and a bold red lip. Hairstylist Nikki Nelms used Maui Moisture's Heal & Hydrate + Shea Butter Combing Cream to prep the star's hair, then followed up with the ghd Curve Soft Curl Iron to create a side-swept look.

"The men’s guide to red carpet grooming from beauty insiders"

It’s easy to turn your focus to the women when it comes to red carpet season - from the bold makeup options to elaborate hairstyles and even impressively detailed manicures, their beauty looks are hard to miss. But the boys have their own glam teams hard at work before they hit the red carpet. In fact, in most cases, if you didn’t notice the guys were wearing makeup in the first place, it’s all thanks to some major grooming magic. Mainly, thanks to a detailed skin care routine and an impressively well-matched foundation/concealer combo, explains men's groomer, Shannon Pezzetta, who often works with Zayn Malik. “When I have the time, I like to do full skin care prep, starting with heating the face up with a warm washcloth and removing blackheads,” she says. “Then I'll use Koh Gen Do Cleansing Spa Water Wipes to get all of the residue off the face, followed by the Caudalie Beauty Elixir spray after and a moisturizing serum.”

"The Best Foundations for Mature Skin, According to Makeup Artists"

Just as the moisturizer you used in your 20s and 30s likely needs an upgrade once you hit your 40s and beyond, the same is true of foundation. “As we age, our skin becomes drier and thinner while also losing collagen and elasticity,” explains makeup artist Gita Bass (her clients include Toni Collette, Laura Dern, and Debra Messing). “That, combined with the long-term effects of gravity and sun exposure, causes sagging, fine lines, as well as hyperpigmentation.” The other feature that tends to shift with the passage of time is the tint of our complexion. “A lot of people lose color in their face as they age; their color can become more sallow,” adds makeup artist Sandy Linter. Luckily, though, a plethora of foundation options exists to accommodate these mature-skin needs, as is evidenced by the following recommendations from nine makeup artists, which include a charmeuse-like liquid, a cushion compact, and a creamy stick. (Most of these run above $50, it should be noted, but our experts emphasized the quality ingredients in their picks, which they say are more important to invest in as we age.) While how you apply your chosen one — whether with fingers, brush, Beautyblender, or what have you — really comes down to personal preference (and, frankly, time), there are, according to makeup artist Tamah Krinsky (whose clients include Gillian Anderson and Keri Russell), a few cardinal foundation rules to keep in mind. First: “No matter how you apply it, keep the product sheer and blend, blend, blend, making sure you get into the folds around the nose, under your eyes, and between the brows,” she says. And, start small: “A dime-size amount is usually more than enough for the whole face … you’re not trying to cover your face in makeup; you’re evening out your skin tone.” Finally, every expert we consulted here stressed that it’s key to start with a well-moisturized face: “If your skin is dry underneath,” says makeup artist Fulvia Farolfi, “there is no foundation that will work.” Best overall foundation for mature skin Best hydrating foundation for mature skin A longtime under-the-radar favorite among beauty-world insiders, Krinsky loves Koh Gen Do’s creamy formula — especially for mature skin that can often skew drier. “If your foundation dries you out even more, it will just bring out lines and wrinkles,” explains Barose. “The hydration and moisture of this formula keep skin looking fresh.” To help foundation look even better, Krinsky suggests spending extra time on your skin-care prep: “Give yourself a little facial massage. It feels great, wakes your skin up, and gives your products time to absorb before you start your makeup.” If you want to go a step further still, invest in a great primer like Tatcha’s Silk Canvas Protective Primer — according to Bromhead, it “blurs fine lines, fills any large pores, and gives the foundation something to hang on to.”
