Holiday Gift Guide

WHAT TO BUY THIS HOLIDAY SEASON, AND FOR WHOM

Must have list: holiday beauty products

 LA Times Article

Several weeks ago, hair and make-up artist Jeffrey Fetzer listed his top beauty products for the holidays. He follows up with some additional items he thinks serve as the perfect gifts for the season.

If your mom likes to travel, DLSH has the cleverest all-in-one cosmetic bag called ‘The Actor Bag.’ You’ll find compartments for eye pencils, lipsticks, foundations, tissues, etc. Small enough to put in a tote bag, it’s great for the plane, train or car. I’ve used this bag on many movie sets, and now they’re available to select retailers, so get them while they’re still in store because they go fast. Available at Frends for $39.96.

The newest foundations to hit the market are by the Japanese company KohGenDo. They’ve developed a smooth foundation that doesn’t lay on the surface, but rather goes into the skin, leaving a flawless complexion; no one will know you’re wearing makeup. Available for purchase at the KohGenDo website.

For women on the go, Chantecaille has a beautiful signature case with an amazing highlighter that creates a natural glow for a radiant touch of light when applied to both the cheekbones and eyelids. I’ve long been a big fan of their lip gloss. This time around there’s Reve de Rose, a smooth and intensely hydrating lip gloss that’s loaded with aloe, chamomile, Vitamin E with SPF 15. Their wand liquid eyeliner is exquisite. There are several shades to choose from and you get a really smooth, straight line that will stay that way all day or all night long. Lip gloss is $36 and liquid eyeliner is $22, both available at the Chantecaille website.

Philip Pelusi Products have been available at high-end salons for several years. Tela is their new, totally organic line that is USDA approved and is selling online and in many stores throughout the United States. My favorites are their shampoos and conditioners, which smell divine and leave hair smelling so amazingly clean and fresh. Delight the lady in your life with a very cool product called Beach Comber that actually smells like fresh oranges! It looks like a pomade but when applied to the hair, it dries the way you styled it. Check the Philip Pelusi website to find locations near you that sell their products.

To help your hair sparkle like a newborn snowflake on New Year’s Eve, treat yourself (after all this gift-buying, you deserve it!) to MoroccanOil’s ‘Restoration Hair Mask’ with Argan Oil that is rich in Vitamin F (Omega 6), Vitamin A and E. A rinse-off deep treatment that you apply after shampoo and leave in for 5-7 minutes will make your hair feel reborn! A great trick is to take about a teaspoonful of MoroccanOil and mix it into the mask to add extra shine and leave the hair incredibly soft and manageable. See the official website to find a location near you that sells their products.

Happy shopping!
