Spring Beauty Trend: Setting Powders

Maifanshi Natural Lighting PowderI can't say I ever really knew the need of setting powder until mineral powders were all the rage. The ads said you needed it as the last step to your regimen. And I actually have to say, no matter what kind of foundation you use, I think it's key for setting your makeup and giving you that 'airbrushed' finish (yes, just like they say). I'm not sure how well most brands work for dry skin so I'll usually skip in the winter, but now that spring is here, I'll be carrying it with me for t-zone touch ups. I've found a few that I think are great for first timers:

1) Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder-I have the mini one for $20, which is ideal for carrying around and adds just a thin layer so your skin won't look cakey.

2) MAC Pro Set Powder in Invisible-These come in a bunch of shades, but if you're not a pro, stick with the Invisible. It looks like a white powder but it's very light and completely translucent.

3) KohGenDo Maifanshi Natural Lighting Powder(pictured)-My new obsession. Koh Gen Do is Japanese brand finally made its way here. The powder does a fabulous balancing act of lightweight and even coverage. The silky puff included lets you press it gently on your skin to set your makeup for a natural finish. Their Maifanshi Face Powder also contains hyaluronic acid (a heat insulator) which makes it a go-to for dry skin types.

Do you use setting powder, or can you normally do without?
